Notes are coming home today regarding our Pioneer Day on Friday. They need to be turned in tomorrow.


Also, our CRT tests are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. It is so important that students are here everyday for testing. Please make sure your child gets enough rest and a good breakfast each day so they are alert for testing.

Off-Track --- Yahooooooo!

We go off-track on Friday May 7th!    Classes start again on Tuesday June 1st!   Have a fun and safe off-track time and Memorial Day!    Remember to be working on your county reports that are due on June 18th!

Dear parents,

Thank you for all those who attended conferences this past week. Each conference went well and I was pleased with those who came to visit with me. I know that by working together, we can have a wonderful last term.

 

4th grade is quickly winding down and we will be starting our county reports soon. Information will be coming home in the next couple of weeks regarding county reports. Please watch for that. If you have any questions after you receive this information, please feel free to contact me.

Valentines Day Party

Our class Valentines Party will be on Friday, February 12th from 10:20 - 11:20.  We are in need of volunteers to plan and carry out 2 games and a craft for our party!  Plesae call or email Heather Jensen if you are interested or able to help at our party.  We have had great support from parents this far and I want to give everyone an opportunity if you have not been into help at a party to do so.  The internet is a great place to find ideas for games or crafts and we have some money available from our donations to help with the costs.  This will be the last party the PTA sponsors this for the year.  Thanks for your support!

Have your child decorate and bring a valentines box to class on the day of our party.

The Ultimate Book Battle

We are heading into our 3rd annual reading compeitition, "The Ultimate Book Battle" with Butterfield Canyon Elementary and this year Silver Crest Elementary is joining the competition.   The school with the most minutes read will receive a trophy and a special school assembly!

The competition is going to be fierce and we want to keep the trophy at Foothills, so please encourage your student to READ, READ, READ as much as possible in the two weeks of competition.  The class that reads the most will receive a game and ice cream party!

Please record the number of minutes your child reads each night independently at home on the "Ultimate Book Battle Calendar" and return it by the date due with a parent signature so the minutes will be counted toward our school.    In order to ensure a fair and competitive atmosphere, only minutes recorded on the "Ultimate Book Battle Calendar" will be counted.

Grab a book and let the reading begin!

Hashbrown Winters Book Signing Event

Frank Cole is a local author who came to our school earlier in the school year. After he came, I read the first book as a read aloud. My class enjoyed the book, as did I. Students around the state were given a challenge to create a character for his 3rd book in the Hashbrown Winters series. My class completed this challenge. In November I took the 4th grade Character papers to Frank Cole. He was very excited that so many of our students had participated. I am not sure how many entries were submitted, however, I do know that there were several very creative ideas turned in. I have high hopes that one of Foothills' students will be chosen.
